The details
Even when parents earn too much for Medicaid themselves, kids often qualify for Medicaid or CHIP: in most states the kid cutoff is 2–3× the adult one. Coverage includes checkups, shots, dental, and ER visits with little or no cost. If daycare-age medical bills are stressing the budget, check this before anything else — enrollment is year-round.
